CUSTOM ACRYLIC KEYCHAINS

Today’s DIY is a Cricut craft that I love because you can customize every single detail. You can pick the colors, prints, fonts and shapes you love best and they’re honestly really easy to make.

For this project, I used this set of Acrylic Keychain blanks that came with 4 different shapes and a variety of different colored tassels, this set of rose gold holographic vinyl, this holographic vinyl and white permanent vinyl.

Choosing the right vinyl is key (see what I did there?) to this project. When I made my first keychain, I put all of the layers on one side of the acrylic. It ended up looking lumpy and I knew the vinyl wouldn’t stay on long term. I figured out if I put the background design on the back of the blank and the name/initials on the front, I got a perfectly smooth and secure design.

The catch with this is that the “wrong side” of the vinyl used for the background is what you’ll be seeing on the front of your keychain. Luckily, most of the vinyl in the set I used either looked exactly the same on both sides or the colors on the back contrasted well with the color on the front. It’s easy to peel up a corner of your vinyl to see what the backside looks like before committing to and cutting it.

Below you’ll find close up pictures of the keychains along with step-by-step videos on how I designed and made each one!
