MEN’S SHIRT CARDS

This week’s post comes just in time for Father’s Day. These cards are easy to make, inexpensive and I can guarantee this will be the most unique card your dad has ever received. I’ll include a step by step video at the end of the post if you prefer to watch me make them but I’ll also include step by step pictures and instructions in case you find that easier to follow.

The first step is picking out your paper for the cards. You’ll want to use paper and not card stock as the card stock would be too thick to make all the folds. I got my paper at Joann Fabrics and right now they have a sale going on where you can get the sheets of paper for 20 cents each.

The paper I bought comes in 12” x 12” sheets so I started by cutting it down to 12” x 8.5” which is the size needed to make each card.

Fold the paper in half lengthwise.

Open up the paper back up and fold both outer sides in to the middle crease.

You’ll now have 3 creases in your paper. Fold the top two corners down to the outermost creases.

Next you’ll match up the bottom corners of the triangle you just created and crease the paper just to the top of that triangle on the inside. This part is hard to show in pictures so reference the video at the end of the post if needed.

Repeat on the other side.

Fold one side of the paper in towards the middle lining up the bottom of the triangle with the seam on the side. Again, reference the video at the end of the post if needed for this step.

Repeat the process on the other side and crease along the top of the paper.

Flip the paper over and fold the bottom up about 1/2" inch.

Flip the paper back over and fold the bottom corners in to the middle.

Rotate the paper so the collar is at the top and fold the bottom up into the collar. Crease the paper at the bottom to secure.

You can leave the shirt as is or you can add embellishments with contrasting colors paper. Some ideas would be standard tie shapes, strips of paper with buttons glued on or even making a bowtie with the paper.

For the message on the card you can glue a 4'“ x 4” square of paper on the back and write out your message or you can slide a gift card/message right into the middle of the card.
